I am currently an Assistant Professor (tenure track) in the Department of Organization at Copenhagen Business School and a Malmsten Early Career Scholar at Gothenburg University.
I was born and raised in Recife (Brazil). I obtained a bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Urbino (Italy) and graduated from Warwick Business School with an M.A. in Management & Organisational Analysis, as well as a Ph.D. in Management (UK). I was an Early-Career Fellow in the Institute of Advanced Study (UK) and a Post-Doc Fellow at EM Lyon Business School (France).
My research broadly falls into two interrelated streams. The first examines the interplay of organizational structures and knowledge processes, such as collaboration across specialist domains; the second investigates how bureaucracy works, with particular emphasis on the promises as well as the dysfunctions of this pervasive organizational form. I also have an interest in qualitative research methods.
Across these streams, my work is characterized by a focus on meso-level organizational analysis and the use of qualitative/ethnographic methods to capture the lived ways in which organization is enacted. I have conducted research in the aircraft industry, public institutions, and the banking sector. I am an active member of the Academy of Management (AOM), where I have served as a representative-at-large for the OMT Division, and the European Group for Organization Studies (EGOS), where I currently coordinate a standing working group on expertise.
As part of my work in academia, I strive to support equality and diversity, and I have a strong interest in feminist and decolonial approaches. I am also fascinated by the arts and believe they are a great engine to expand our analytical skills and imagination. One of my favourite artists is Carl Hammoud, whose images are featured on this website. When not busy with research, teaching, or communicating my scholarship, I enjoy spending my time baking, practicing modern dance, or improvising at the piano.
